Earlier this morning, we shared information about a collision that occurred late last night in the intersection of Center Road and Wilson Avenue. The collision involved a Jeep Liberty, driven by 24 year old Taylor Brindley of Novato and a Ford F150 pick-up truck, occupied by a driver and two passengers that were all seriously injured in the collision. We received unfortunate news that the driver of the F150, a 70 year old Novato man had succumbed to his injuries and died at Marin General Hospital this afternoon. As a result, we invoked our fatal vehicle collision protocol and are investigating this case as gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, 191.5 PC. Inspectors from the Marin County District Attorney’s office have been assisting our traffic collision investigators with this case. The Marin County Coroner’s Office will be making notification to the family members of the victim prior to releasing the victim’s name publicly.

We would like to extend our deepest condolences to the family of our victim and to those effected by this tragedy. Events like this have a ripple effect through our community and impact not only those who knew and loved the victim, but those who knew the suspect. There are two families suffering a huge loss in a preventable tragedy such as this. We remain vigilant in our pursuit of those who choose to drive under the influence on our roadways with reckless disregard for the safety of our community members. We will continue to enforce the vehicle code and hold regular checkpoints for impaired drivers. We encourage our community to continue to report impaired drivers on our city streets and to take proactive measures to prevent tragedies like this from occurring. Designate a driver, call a ride, take the keys or be the friend who volunteers to drive others. Your actions could help save someone’s life.
