On Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 8:46 p.m., a fatal felonious hit and run traffic collision involving a pedestrian occurred on Wilmington Avenue just north of Stockwell Street in the city of Compton.
 
The victim, Christopher Frushon a 19 year-old male Hispanic adult, was walking east across Wilmington Avenue in a marked crosswalk near Stockwell Avenue when he was struck by the suspect’s vehicle.  The suspects’ vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed, well above the posted 35 MPH speed limit, when he ran the red stop light at Stockwell Street. The impact of the suspect’s vehicle launched Christopher into the air and onto the ground.
 
Christopher Frushon was preparing to graduate from High school on Thursday, June 7, 2018.  He was looking to the future and planning to move up North with his mom to start a better life. Christopher lived an active lifestyle, he was planning to be a welder, and loved spending time outdoors riding his bike with his dad, and attending concerts in the park.  He was the eldest of three siblings (one sister and two brothers).  Last week he went to his Prom with his girlfriend of three years.  He will be missed by his family and friends
 
The suspect’s vehicle described as a mid-size sedan, possibly a Charger or Kia, fled the area and continued northbound towards El Segundo Boulevard and out of view.  The victim was treated on scene by a deputy and fire department personnel.  He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
 
Investigators believe the vehicle sustained extensive front end damage to either the windshield, hood, front bumper, radiator grill, and/or the roof due to the vehicles speed and impact with the victim.     
 
This collision is being investigated by the Compton Sheriff’s Station Traffic Unit. We are asking the public’s help in solving this terrible crime.
