Investigators have learned, the victim, along with suspects Balaskas, Elmendorf, and Amigon were at the home of suspect Matthew Luzon on Goodway Drive, when the victim was brutally beaten before being dragged to a pick-up truck belonging to one of the suspects.  The unconscious victim was lifted into the bed of the truck and driven to Azusa Canyon.  He was  then brutally beaten again before being thrown over the side of a roadside drop off.  The victim, who is believed to have been alive upon arriving at the roadside location, succumbed to his injuries.

Tips from passersby, who witnessed the suspect vehicle at the location on the night of the incident, led to the discovery of the area where the victim had been left to die.  After several hours of searching, the victim was located and pronounced dead at the scene.

The motive for the killing is unknown at this time.

We want to thank the witnesses for coming forward and helping us locate the victim of this senseless murder.  Without them, we may never have found the victim.

UPDATE IS AS FOLLOWS:

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide detectives are continuing their investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a male Hispanic adult. The deceased person was discovered at approximately 5:55 p.m., on Wednesday, May 30, 2018, when investigators found him in heavy brush on San Gabriel Canyon Road (Highway 39) near mile marker 20, in Azusa Canyon.

Homicide detectives, along with San Dimas Sheriff’s Station personnel, were in the area after developing information in the course of a suspicious circumstances investigation in the unincorporated area of Azusa (6100 block of Goodway Drive, on Monday, May 28, 2018).  Investigators learned a body had possibly been dumped in the area.  After approximately 2 hours of searching, the victim was found around 30 feet down the hill from the roadway.  He suffered, what appeared to be, blunt force trauma.

Investigators have identified the victim, but are not releasing his name pending notification of his next of kin. He was pronounced dead on scene.

Three suspects have been identified and arrested. All three are males in their early 20’s, and acquaintances of the victim.

One suspect remains outstanding, therefore no suspect names are being released at this time, nor is the motive.

Investigators determined, the victim in this case had been assaulted at the Goodway Drive location before being driven to Azusa Canyon where his body was thrown over the side of the road. It is yet to be determined if the victim was killed at the home, or if the victim was killed at the location his body was discovered.

This case remains a very active investigation and no further information is available for release at this time.
