INCIDENT: FATAL TRAFFIC COLLISION

LOCATION: MAPLE AVENUE / EL CENTRO STREET

INVOLVED PARTY: WITHHELD PENDING FAMILY NOTIFICATION / 34-YEAR-OLD MALE FROM HESPERIA


SUMMARY:
On June 4, 2018, at approximately 8:35 pm, a Ranger with the Hesperia Parks and Recreation District located a single vehicle traffic collision on Maple Avenue north of El Centro Street. The Ranger advised Sheriff’s Dispatch of the collision and requested medical personnel. Deputies from the Hesperia Station arrived on scene and found a 34-year-old male down in the roadway near a black 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle. The rider was not breathing, and CPR was initiated by first responders. The San Bernardino County Fire Department arrived and took over the life-saving measures. The victim was transported to a local emergency room where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased.
The Hesperia Station, Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT) responded to the scene to conduct the investigation. Investigators determined the motorcycle was traveling northbound on Maple Avenue and for reasons still under investigation, the rider lost control and was ejected from the vehicle which resulted in major injuries. It was determined no other vehicles were involved in the collision, and no other injuries were reported.
Maple Avenue was closed in both directions from El Centro Street to Mission Avenue until about 3:00 am on June 5th, while investigators collected evidence and processed the scene of the collision.
