The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

May 31st

0710 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 46-year-old Fremont male for possession of drug paraphernalia on the 6000 block of Amador Place. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1400 Hours: Officer Fredstrom investigated the theft of a customer’s laptop computer from inside Starbucks, 35040 Newark Boulevard.

1451 Hours: Officer Allum investigated a two vehicle non-injury accident on the 35400 block of Cedar Boulevard. One driver was issued a citation for driving without a license.

June 1st

0949 Hours: Officer Fredstrom contacted and arrested a 27-year-old Fremont female for prowling, possession of burglary tools and probation violation on the 6100 block of Stevenson Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

1029 Hours: Officer San Pedro responded to a disturbance at the Chase Suites, 39150 Cedar Boulevard. A 37-year-old Albany male was contacted and arrested for violating the terms of a restraining order. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

2137 Hours: Officer Damewood responded to a disturbance on the 37800 block of Lobelia Drive. A 34-year-old Newark female was contacted and arrested for violation of a restraining order and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

2223 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 37-year-old transient male and a 37-year-old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia during a pedestrian stop on the 5700 block of Thornton Avenue. Both suspects were booked into the Fremont Jail.

2335 Hours: Officer Herbert contacted and arrested a 32-year-old San Jose male for being under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance on the 5600 block of Jarvis Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

0012 Hours: Officer Piquette contacted and arrested a wrong way driver on Newark Boulevard for driving under the influence. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

0409 Hours: Officer Damewood responded to a disturbance on the 36600 block of Cherry Street. Officer Damewood contacted and arrested a 56-year-old Newark male for driving under the influence as he was attempting to leave in his vehicle. The suspect was booked into the Fremont Jail.

June 2nd

1022 Hours: Officer Nobbe investigated a single vehicle non-injury collision into a tree on Edgewater Drive and Cedar Boulevard.

1040 Hours: Officer D. Johnson investigated the theft of a silver, 1999 Honda Civic (CA License #4EFB956) on the 36100 block of LaSalle Drive.

1723 Hours: Officer Herbert investigated a single vehicle non-injury accident on Jarvis Avenue at Newark Boulevard.

1807 Hours: Officer Khairy responded to a disturbance on Cedar Boulevard at Music Avenue. A 22-year-old Newark male was contacted and arrested for his outstanding warrant and subsequently booked into the Fremont Jail.

June 3rd

0651 Hours: Officer Wilkerson investigated a complaint of pain vehicle collision on Newark Boulevard and Jarvis Avenue. The injured party declined medical attention at the scene.

0930 Hours: Officer Wilkerson investigated a vehicle burglary on the 36500 block of Lakewood Drive. The loss is unknown.

2244 Hours: Officer Taylor responded to a report of an unwanted guest on the 3640 block of Bridgepointe Drive. A 30-year-old transient male was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and possession or drug paraphernalia. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

2348 Hours: Officer Damewood investigated an attempted assault with a deadly weapon (baseball bat) on the 35800 block of Argonne Street. The suspect had fled the scene prior to the Officers arrival.
