Detective Paul Alkire of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Martha Jane Berryhill, 69, of 526 Berryhill Farm Drive in Nebo, with five counts of embezzlement.
Berryhill worked at the McDowell County Public Library and was responsible for depositing cash from both the Marion and Old Fort branches. Library administrators found discrepancies in the deposits and notified the Sheriff’s Office.
It is believed that Berryhill took $21,499.64 between Jan. 1, 2014 and March 29, 2018.
