Driving into the Rock River leads to OWI Arrest

On 06-04-18 at 12:38 a.m., the Janesville Police and Fire Departments responded to River’s Edge Bowl for a water rescue. When officers arrived they found citizens trying to pull a man out of the river by using jumper cables. Officers were able to help the citizens get the man out safely.

After further investigation it was discovered that Jesus Herrera was driving east on W. Holmes at S. River. Jesus failed to stop at the stop sign and continued straight through the River’s Edge Bowl’s south parking lot. Jesus drove through the 2 foot wall along the river and into the river. He was transported to Mercy Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Jesus showed signs of intoxication and was arrested for 2nd offense OWI. Jesus was also cited for Operating after Revocation due to OWI and failure to have control. Jesus was later released to a responsible party.
