Christopher Baker arrested in animal cruelty investigation

On 5/31/18 around 10 p.m., Dispatch received a report of animal cruelty in the 100 block of Eagle Street.
The preliminary investigation found that the suspect was spotted dragging and strangling a black dog. When officers with the Patrol Division arrived, the suspect was hanging the lifeless Labrador from a wooded fence via a leash around its neck. As he was taken into custody, he started fighting with officers and ignored their multiple commands to surrender safely. After a final command, he was tazed and arrested. Officers rescued the dog and transported it to a local animal hospital. The dog’s life was saved and it was transported to Anchorage Animal Care and Control.
The suspect has been identified as Christopher Baker (39-years-old). He faces charges of Cruelty to Animals and Resisting Arrest.
