Local Events Likely to Impact Weekend Traffic

The City of Berkeley will be hosting a series of events which are anticipated to impact local traffic.  As always follow us on Twitter (@berkeleypolice) and Nixle (www.nixle.com) for the latest information.

Here is a look at what to expect and where to expect it:

On Friday, June 1, 2018, Franklin Graham’s Decision America California Tour will be held in the Berkeley Marina.  Community members can expect delays starting at approximately 7:00pm on I-80 at Gilman, I-80 at University Avenue, I-80 and Ashby Avenue, and West Frontage Road at University Avenue.    Community members or visitors attending the event can park either in the Marina or at Golden Gate Field as there will be shuttle service available.  For details specific to the event see the following link: https://california.billygraham.org/event/berkeley/

On Saturday, June 2, 2018, the World Music Festival will be held at People’s Park.  Haste Street between Bowditch and Telegraph Avenue will be closed to through traffic from 11:00am-10:00pm.  For specific details on the event see the attached link: https://www.berkeleyworldmusic.org/

Also occurring on Saturday the 2nd, the Berkeley Humane Society will be hosting their 5th Annual Pints 4 Paws event.  Traffic on 9th Street will be closed between Parker and Pardee Streets and Carleton Street will be closed between 8th and 10th Streets between 1-6:00pm.  For further detail: https://berkeleyhumane.org/PintsForPaws

The largest impact to local traffic will come as a result of the Sunday Streets event which has the largest set of road closures scheduled to run between 10:00am and 5:00pm.  Shattuck  Avenue will be closed between Rose Street and Channing Way, Telegraph Avenue will be closed between Bancroft and Dwight Way (Channing Way will remain open), Durant Avenue will be closed between Milvia and Bowditch Streets.  North/southbound traffic are encouraged to use Martin Luther King Jr. Way, College Avenue, and Oxford Street; east/westbound traffic should use Rose & Cedar Streets, University Avenue, Channing Way, and Haste Streets. For further details see the organizers webpage: https://berkeleyhumane.org/PintsForPaws

Any changes to the above itinerary will be broadcast via Nixle and Twitter.  We apologize for any inconvenience which occur as a result of the events.
