Deputies respond to possible shoplifting and find Morganton woman with drugs 
Deputy Jesse Hicks of the McDowell County Sheriff’s Office charged Tammy Stamey Smith, 39, of Morganton, with possession of methamphetamine and possession of heroin.
At 9:35 p.m. on Monday, May 14, deputies were called to Nebo Quick Stop, on East Lawing Road, in reference to a possible shoplifter.
While talking to Smith, the suspect, she dropped a bag. Inside, deputies found 4 grams of methamphetamine and .2 gram of heroin.
