The Newark Police Department is releasing information about recent crime and police activity that has occurred within our community.

May 26th

0937 Hours: Officer Pacheco contacted and arrested a 35-year-old transient male for his outstanding warrants during a pedestrian stop on the 5800 block of Jarvis Avenue. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

1219 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated a report of a stolen red, 1991 Ford Ranger Pickup (CA License #26351B2) on the 6500 block of Cedar Boulevard.

1316 Hours: Officer Pacheco investigated an attempt to pass a fraudulent check at Bank of America, 36900 Newark Boulevard. The suspect fled prior to police arriving, abandoning a fake ID. There was no loss to the bank.

2111 Hours: Officer Slavazza contacted and arrested a 50-year-old Newark male for being under the influence of a controlled substance during a traffic stop on Lafayette Avenue at Newark Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.

May 27th

0905 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated a package theft on the 5000 block of Scarborough Drive.

0946 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated a vandalism incident on the 35200 block of Wycombe Place.

1520 Hours: Officer Jackman investigated a residential burglary on the 5800 block of Lafayette Avenue. The investigation is ongoing.

1636 Hours: Officer Mapes investigated a report of a stolen white, 2007 Dodge Ram Pickup at the Residence Inn, 35466 Dumbarton Court.

May 28th

0846 Hours: Officer Jackman and Officer Mapes contacted and arrested a 56-year-old Newark male for possession of drug paraphernalia during a probation search on the 5800 block of Ravenwood Avenue. The suspect was issued a citation and released.

1226 Hours: Officer Mapes and Officer Jackman investigated a grab and run theft at JC Pennys, NewPark Mall.

1947 Hours: Officer Smith contacted and arrested a 26-year-old Fremont male for possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and probation violation on the 36800 block of Cedar Boulevard. The suspect was booked into the Santa Rita Jail.
