PARK WISELY! Targeted parking enforcement will take place in the City of Fremont over the next two weeks.

Parking violations are one of the most common complaints and frustrations we hear about in Fremont.  While we don’t have a parking enforcement unit, we do have very dedicated Community Service Officers who in between their regular duties, try to respond to all of the complaints in a timely manner.

Starting tomorrow, May 27 and continuing through the end of the following week, we will conduct targeted parking enforcement throughout the City of Fremont.

Most violations carry a $63 fine for the first offense, and for the 2nd offense of same violation (within 12 months), the penalty is doubled ($123).  And the 3rd offense of same violation within 12 months, the penalty is five times the original amount ($303).

In response to feedback and common complaints, these are some of the sections we’ll be targeting our enforcement efforts around over the next two weeks:

· If your vehicle registration is expired, keep it off public roadways until renewed, or you can be cited.  And, if registration is expired over 6 months, a vehicle can be towed…immediately.

· 22514 CVC – Fire hydrant parking  (“No person shall stop, park, or leave standing any vehicle within 15 feet of a fire hydrant…”). The curb is SOMETIMES painted red, but most of the time it is not.  So, please steer clear of all hydrants!

· 10.05.630 FMC – No Stopping Any Time Check for signs posted in area.  Just because other vehicles are parked there, doesn’t mean it’s okay!

· 18.183.180 (G) FMC – Vehicles over 20’ in length (or vehicle/trailer over 20’ combined) are prohibited on residential streets.  Unattached boats/trailers also prohibited on city streets AND on private property if in public view.

Mid you have a specific parking complaint you’d like us to look into, please email [email protected] or fill out the traffic complaint form on our web-site at www.fremontpolice.org. - Thank you!
