The Suffolk County Police Department Highway Patrol Bureau, assisted by the New York State Police, arrested ten people during an overnight sobriety checkpoint in the Patchogue area.
Police officers from the Suffolk County Police Department Highway Patrol Bureau, assisted by New York State Troopers, conducted a sobriety checkpoint at the corner of Waverly Avenue and the North Service Road of the Sunrise Highway, Patchogue. The checkpoint was conducted as part of the on-going holiday enforcement operations for the prevention of injuries and fatalities associated with driving while ability impaired by alcohol and drugs. A total of 727 vehicles went through the checkpoint.
The following people were charged with Driving While Intoxicated:
- Osbaldo Cruz, 38, of 194 Smith Street, Freeport
- Nicole Bonet, 44, of 500 Peconic Street, Ronkonkoma
- Nadine Craparotta, 28, of 505 Heathcote Road, Lindenhurst
- Fernando Benito, 41, of 934 10th Street, West Babylon
- Pedro Ortiz-Collazo, 32, of 1590 Yarrow Circle, Patchogue
- Marvin Dacis, 27, of 240 Newman Street, Brentwood
- Carl Ferdenzi, 29, of 31 North Avenue, Northport
- Digna Alvarenga, 27, of 1610 North Gardnier Drive, Bayshore
- Joel Najarro, 25, of 35 Plum Street, Central Islip
The following was charged with Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs:
- Brandon Brown, 25, 6 3rd Street, Coram
The above individuals will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on May 26.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
