*UPDATE* #LASD OSS Dets Arrest Suspect that Shot at Pomona PD SWAT Officers, 5500blk N. Lark Ellen, unincorp Azusa
Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Operations Safe Streets Bureau (OSS) detectives have arrested the suspect that shot at Pomona Police Department’s SWAT Team in the early morning hours. The incident occurred Thursday, May 24, 2018, at approximately 4:00 a.m., on the 5500 block of Lark Ellen Avenue in the unincorporated area of Azusa.
Pomona Police Department SWAT team was serving a search warrant at the residence when someone from inside started shooting at them. They returned fire and retreated to safety. No officers were injured during the exchange of gunfire. Within minutes of the shooting, officers were able to make contact with the residents who complied with orders to exit the residence to be detained. No one was injured during this brief exchange of gunfire.
The arrest and booking of Suspect Jorge Galvez, male Hispanic 20 years-old, comes after a long day of detectives investigating the shooting, searching for the weapon used in the incident, and the crime lab processing the scene for evidence.
Detectives located a firearm at the residence.
Suspect Galvez was arrested for attempt murder, and booked at Industry Station. He is being held in lieu of $1,000,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in Pomona Municipal Court on Tuesday, May 29, 2018.

Detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, Operations Safe Streets Bureau are investigating the circumstances involving a non-hit Officer Involved Shooting in the unincorporated area of Azusa.
On Thursday, May 24, 2018, detectives from the Azusa Police Department led a multi-agency operation to simultaneously serve search warrants on several locations. Several locations were successfully searched resulting in the arrest of several subjects.
At approximately 4:00 a.m., as the Pomona Police Department SWAT team was serving their search warrant in the 5500 block of Lark Ellen Avenue in the unincorporated area of Azusa, the officers were shot at by someone from inside the residence. Pomona SWAT officers returned fire and retreated to safety. No officers were injured during the exchange of gunfire. Within minutes of the shooting, officers were able to make contact with the residents who complied with orders to exit the residence to be detained. A search of the residence and immediate area resulted in the fact that no one was injured during this brief exchange of gunfire. No suspects are outstanding and there is no threat to the community.
