Community Alert: Caltrain 25th Avenue Grade Separation Project

Good Afternoon San Mateo -
As a reminder to our community, Caltrain is continuing construction on the 25th Avenue Grade Separation Project, which includes varying road closures and detours in the Bay Meadows area. We ask you to stay informed of the road closures and detours by signing up for Caltrain’s weekly project updates at: Being aware of road closures in advance will help reduce traffic delays while maintaining the overall safety of motorists, bicyclists and pedestrians.
Currently, Caltrain is working with PG&E as the utility relocates a pipeline along South Delaware Street, from just south of 25th Avenue to Pacific Boulevard. There will be rolling street closures during construction, which is expected to last until late September.
Crews will work Monday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. PG&E will clearly mark all work areas, and traffic flaggers will help to direct traffic. Please plan for minor delays and detours when driving through this area. Businesses on S. Delaware will be open as usual.
Construction crews are conducting traffic controls with detours for through traffic onto Saratoga Drive north of the San Mateo County Event Center and onto Franklin Parkway at the southern end of the project area. Lane closures will be in place starting between 25th Avenue and Derby Avenue for the first segment of work. As the project progresses, lane closures will move south toward Pacific Boulevard. Drivers should plan alternate routes for through traffic and follow signs for detours.
For more information regarding the overall project, traffic impacts, and schedule, please visit the Caltrain website. Any questions or comments should be directed to Caltrain or PG&E.
