INCIDENT: Major Injury Traffic Collision

LOCATION: Hesperia Road and Verde Street, Victorville

UPDATE: Investigators have learned the 21-year-old male involved in the collision succumbed to his injuries this afternoon. His identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.



SUMMARY: On May 24, 2018, deputies from the Victorville Police Department responded to a traffic collision at the intersection of Hesperia Road and Verde Street.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a 21-year old male was westbound on Verde Street, on his skateboard. As he approached the 4-way stop intersection of Hesperia Road, he failed to yield and hit the side of a small passenger bus. The bus was northbound on Hesperia Road and had just entered the intersection at Verde Street when it was struck.

There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the collision. The driver was uninjured. The male sustained major head injuries. He was transported to a nearby trauma center and is reported to be in critical condition.
