Fisherman missing, fell off rocks at Gerstle Cove into ocean.

A San Mateo fisherman fell off a rock in Gerstle Cove yesterday into the surf and remains missing. The Sonoma County Sheriff’s Office received the call at about 4:45 PM yesterday. 65-year-old Li Shen Su was visiting the Sonoma Coast with four friends to go fishing at about 2:30 PM and they were traversing rocks south of Gerstle Cove when Su slipped and fell into the surf. Su’s friends tried to locate Su with no success.

With no cellular phone coverage in the area, they drove south to the Fort Ross State Park were they summoned help from park rangers. The Sheriff’s helicopter Henry One was first on scene and attempted to locate Su with no success. State Parks, Coast Guard and the Sheriff’s Office all participated in the search for Su. The surf is very strong right now, making rescue efforts very difficult. The Sheriff’s Office is in contact with Su’s family. An aerial search for Su is continuing this morning.
