This year marks the 50^th anniversary of the day our San Mateo Police Department and Community lost Sergeant Gordon Joinville, who was killed in the line of duty.  As part of our commitment to never forget Sergeant Joinville’s sacrifice, we will be honoring him as we do every year at the site where he made the ultimate sacrifice for our community. The memorial will be tomorrow May 23^rd, 2018, at 3 p.m. at the intersection of 5^th Av and Claremont St. We welcome our community to come to the event and support Sgt. Joinville’s family and SMPD as we pay tribute.
We would also like to inform our community to expect traffic delays in the area of the memorial (5^th and Claremont) starting at 11 a.m. to about 5 p.m. Officers will have 5^th Ave between Railroad and Claremont closed temporarily during the event. We appreciate our community’s support and patience during this time.
