Change in Garbage/Recycling Schedule Coming June 4th

We heard you!

The Borough will increase garbage collection to twice a week during the summer months.

I am glad to announce that the Borough has made the decision to increase garbage collection to twice a week during the summer months. This increased schedule, which should result in less garbage build-up in between collections, will start on June 4, 2018 and will end on August 31, 2018.

The Borough expresses its gratitude to all who registered, voted, and commented on this initiative. Not only did this survey data helped the Public Works Committee and the Borough make a more informed decision (42 residents voted in favor and 5 voted against), it also generated a number of comments that will help us define upcoming priorities. In addition, we are working towards empowering residents to suggest their own initiatives in PlanetCivic for the betterment of our community.

This initiative is part of South Toms River Borough’s efforts to transform the way the Borough’s residents engage in local decision making and interact with their elected officials. As Sandford Ross, Council President, and one of the six Borough Council Members, said “We have limited attendance at our Council Meetings. We need feedback, so we are essentially bringing the Council to the residents. Families don’t have to choose between a Council meeting and family time. Use this platform from your couch and have your voice heard”.

The Borough has several large-scale projects transforming the municipality, and believe PlanetCivic will greatly assist throughout the planning phases and beyond. “As we move into redevelopment planning, we will engage this new platform for resident and business feedback, to get it right the first”, stated Councilman and Redevelopment Liaison, Tom Rolzhausen.

So stay tuned and invite your neighbors to have their voice heard.
