Humane Officer Seizes Wolf Hybrid

On May 17th at 11:12 AM, Sworn Humane Officer Mallory Meves responded to a dog bite at a residence on the west side of the city. In the investigation, Officer Meves seized a white wolf hybrid that was responsible for biting a victim. A wolf hybrid is a cross between a wolf and domesticated dog and are illegal to possess within the Green Bay City limits or proper permitting through the WI DNR. The wolf hybrid bit a juvenile victim that was unprovoked. The wolf hybrid weighed 107.5 lbs, and stood 37 inches tall. See attached photos.

The suspect Brian Schoen is a 46 year old Green Bay resident. Mr. Schoen was issued Green Bay Municipal citations for
1. Animal bite Forfeiture amount $376
2 Not having his animal licensed Forfeiture amount $376
3. Keeping more than two dogs Forfeiture amount $187
4. Keeping an exotic animal. Forfeiture amount $691

Officer Meves learned that Mr. Schoen has a history of possessing exotic/dangerous animals within Green Bay city limits dating back to 2004. This is a good reminder that captive or farm raised wildlife, hybrids, or exotic animals are not permitted within the city limits-Ordiance 8.04(2)(a) Exotic animals pose a public health and safety hazard for all city residents. If you have any questions pertaining to permits or keeping of exotic/wild animals please contact:
