The National Weather Service in Peachtree City has issued a Hazardous Weather Outlook for parts of central and north Georgia, including Clayton County.
Details & Impacts:
DAY ONE...Today and Tonight...
• Slow-moving showers and isolated embedded thunderstorms will produce
locally heavy rain across portions of north and central Georgia today, particularly along the I-85 corridor.
• Persistent rainfall throughout the day will lead to flooding and localized flash flooding, especially along creeks, small streams, low-lying, urban and poor drainage areas.
• Very localized rainfall amounts of 3 to 5
inches are possible through this afternoon.
DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday...
• Scattered to occasional thunderstorms can be expected across the area into next Tuesday.
• On any given day, A few storms could be strong with the main hazards being gusty winds, frequent lightning and heavy rainfall.
• The greatest chances for thunderstorms will occur during the afternoon and evening hours.
• Localized flooding will also be possible where storms become stationary or only move slowly.
