Who: Homicide Bureau Captain Christopher Bergner, Lancaster Station Captain Todd Weber, Detective Adam Kirste and Detective Omar Miranda of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. Family members of murdered victims Andrew Chavez and Clotee Reyes.
What: Homicide Bureau detectives will announce a combined $30,000 reward, offered by the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors and Lancaster City Council offered in exchange for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspects responsible for the 2017 shooting death of Andrew Chavez and Clotee Reyes.
On Saturday, September 20, 2017, at approximately 1:46 a.m., eighteen-year-old Andrew Chavez and nineteen-year-old Clotee Reyes were talking with friends in the street in the 43000 block of 6th Street East, Lancaster. A black vehicle drove northbound on 6th Street East, and gunshots were fired from the car into the crowd. The car fled northbound away from the scene. Both Andrew and Clotee were mortally wounded.
Andrew Chavez was described as a big brother who recently started a new job he loved. Clotee Reyes was about to start dental assistant school before they were both killed. Family members will appeal to the public for assistance in locating the person(s) responsible.
