Injury Collision Knocks Out Power and Seriously Injures Two

At around 10 p.m. on May 15th, Simi Valley Police received a report of a car crash with power lines down in the 900 block of West Los Angeles Avenue. The crash knocked out power in the nearby area. When officers arrived, they saw a badly damaged car with two people inside. The driver, a 40 year-old man, was unconscious but breathing. His 12 year-old male passenger was in and out of consciousness.

Emergency personnel from the Ventura County Fire Department and American Medical Response ambulance company arrived and provided emergency medical care. Both the driver and the passenger were taken by ambulance to Los Robles Hospital for further treatment of serious head injuries.

Neither drugs nor alcohol seemed to be a factor in the collision. However, the initial investigation appeared to determine that the driver of the car was traveling too fast for roadway conditions and lost control of his vehicle prior to hitting the power pole.

The Simi Valley Police Department would like to remind everyone to watch your speed and obey posted speed limits for a safer community.
