DATE/TIME: Monday, May 14, 2018 8:10 PM

INCIDENT: Driver of a Stolen Vehicle Taken into Custody after a Short Pursuit

LOCATION: Main Street / Mariposa Road, City of Hesperia

SUSPECT: Milagro Gonzalez, age 30, resident of Victorville

SUMMARY:

On Monday, May 14, 2018 at approximately 8:10 p.m., a traffic unit with the Hesperia Sheriff’s Station was in Main Street and Mariposa Road and observed a stolen vehicle. The unit attempted a felony traffic stop in the area of Main Street and Seventh Avenue, but the vehicle did not yield.

With the assistance of Sheriff’s Aviation (40 King), Hesperia deputies maintained visual of the vehicle as it led deputies on a pursuit through the City of Hesperia. In an effort to ensure the safety of Hesperia citizens the decision was made to terminate the ground pursuit. A short time later, 40 King observed the suspect vehicle crash into a curb near the area of Main Street and Escondido Avenue.

The suspect, later identified at Milagro Gonzalez, fled on foot from the vehicle and attempted to car jack a nearby vehicle. Unable to gain access to another vehicle, Gonzalez continued to run on foot from deputies. After a short foot pursuit, deputies struggled with Gonzalez as he resisted arrest. During the struggle a Hesperia Deputy and Gonzales received injuries. The Hesperia Deputy was treated on scene and released, and Gonzalez was taken to a local hospital to receive treatment.

Gonzalez was later booked into High Desert Detention Center for PC 496d(a), possession of a stolen vehicle, VC10851(a) vehicle theft, and VC2800.2, evading.
