SUMMARY:

On May 13, 2018, at 6:58 p.m., deputies from the Rancho Cucamonga Police Department responded to a single vehicle rollover traffic collision. Upon arrival, deputies discovered the driver had fled the scene on foot. Deputy Girard and K9 Dare were deployed and assisted in locating the driver. K9 Dare acquired a scent, trailed from the vehicle and into a large field covered with Sage brush. Within minutes Dare quickly located the suspect approximately 200 yards south of the incident attempting to conceal himself in the sagebrush.

As deputies approached the suspect, he ran and jumped a nearby wall into the backyard of a residence. Deputies quickly established a perimeter, and K9 Dare was deployed in the backyard of the residence. Dare acquired the suspect's scent and lead deputies to a trash can at an address in the 5400 block of Dundee Court. Deputies searched the trash can and found Ryan Rocha hiding in the bottom of the trash can trying to conceal himself with freshly cut grass.

Rocha was identified as the driver of the vehicle involved in the traffic collision. He was arrested and booked into the West Valley Detention Center for Obstructing/Resisting an Officer, Hit and Run, DUI and an unrelated warrant with a bail amount of $65,000.
