Tomorrow is Bike to School Day! Watch out for munchkins on wheels.

Wednesday, May 9th, is Bike to School Day; we anticipate students from more than 50 area schools participating in this fun event. The school year is coming to a close in a matter of weeks, so Wednesday morning will be a precursor for the days of summer that include kiddos on bicycles.

Motorists – keep an extra sharp eye out for tots who may be a little rusty in their bike safety skills after our long winter. Be ready to use that brake pedal, possibly without much warning.

Wheeled Children – wear your helmet! Ride your bike on the sidewalk if it’s available; if not, then ride as close to the side of the roadway as you can. If you’re riding with a buddy, ride single file and not side-by-side.  Come to a complete stop before crossing any roadway and make sure you do not cross directly in front of any moving vehicles.

Mother Nature – seriously. No spitting. BE NICE.

Not only is this a practice run for summer break days but also for next Friday, May 18th, which is Bike to Work Day! Come visit the APD booth which will be set up at Tudor and Elmore. More information regarding that will be forthcoming.

Happy Biking Season!
