Every 15 Minutes - Corcoran High School

On Thursday, May 3-4, 2018, the Corcoran Police Department, in conjunction with the Corcoran High School, California Highway Patrol, Kings County Fire Department, American Ambulance, Kings County Sheriff’s Office, Sky life Medical Transport, Adventist Medical Center, Bledsoe Funeral Home, Kings County District Attorney Keith Fagundes and Kings County Superior Court Judge Shane Burns presented the “Every 15 Minutes” program. This two-day program involved a simulated fatal traffic collision with a DUI driver, two student’s deaths, two student’s injured, and the aftermath of the collision. The purpose of this program is to provide an accurate depiction of an alcohol-related fatal traffic collision from the perspective of all parties involved. The program’s name was derived in the 1990’s from the fact that in the United States, “Every fifteen minutes”, someone dies in an alcohol-related traffic-accident. Funding for the Every 15 Minutes program was provided by the California Office of Traffic Safety through the California Highway Patrol, and community donations. The Every 15 Minutes program was recorded by Remscape and is viewable on YouTube under “Every 15 Minutes Corcoran High School 2018”.
