DUARTE WEEKLY CRIME BLOTTER April 29 - May 5, 2018

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of April 29 – May 5, 2018
 
April 29, 2018

  • A Grand Theft Vehicle was reported in the 3300 block of Conata Street.  A 2012 Toyota Camry was taken from the street.  The vehicle is still outstanding.
 
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (target).  An adult male stole a jacket and a watch.  He was detained outside the store by a Loss Prevention Officer and shortly after, arrested by deputies upon their arrival.
 
  • A grand Theft was reported at 946 Hamilton Road (Verizon).  Two male adults walked into the store and started browsing.  When an employee sets a new I-Phone down to help one of the men, the other man grabs the I-Phone and both men run out of the store.  The suspects fled in a black Volkswagon with yellow dealer paper plates.

  • No significant activity. 
 
May 1, 2018
  • A petty Theft was reported at 327 Huntington Drive (99 Cent Store).  An adult female scammed an elderly woman out of six hundred dollars.  The suspect met the victim in the parking lot of the 99 Cent Store and asked her for a ride to her lawyer’s office across the street in order to pay him six hundred dollars.  Once across the street, the suspect exited the vehicle and appeared to be talking on the phone.  The suspect told the elderly victim that her lawyer would not accept the money because the bills were marked, and asked the victim if she had six hundred dollars on her to show the lawyer she had the money.     
 
The victim gave the suspect six hundred dollars, and the suspect walked away stating she would be right back.  The victim waited approximately 15 minutes for the suspect to return with her money, but when she didn’t, she knew she had been scammed.
 
  • Deputies responded to the City of Hope regarding a male adult acting strange and speaking incoherently.  When deputies contacted the man inside the lobby, the man had difficulty speaking and appeared to be under the influence of narcotics.  After performing Field Sobriety Test’s, the man was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and arrested.  During the investigation, deputies learned the suspect had an outstanding felony warrant out of San Bernardino County for assault on a peace officer.
 
 
 
 
  • While patrolling in the 1900 block of Huntington Drive, A deputy attempted to contact a male regarding narcotic activity.  When the male saw the deputy approaching, the suspect tossed a plastic baggie and ran into the town home complex.  The baggie was recovered which contained illegal narcotics.  The suspect was located a short time later and arrested for possession of a controlled substance for sales.
 
May 2, 2018
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1346 Huntington Drive (Auto Zone).  Two adult males stole approximately two hundred dollars in stereo speakers and two hundred and forty dollars in tools.  The suspects were seen fleeing the location in a black Volvo S60. 
 
  • While patrolling the alley in the 1400 block of Huntington Drive, deputies contacted a male and female attempting to conceal themselves behind a large electrical box.  While ascertaining why they were in the alley, deputies recognized the male appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance and detained.  During the investigation, the male was found to be in possession of suspected methamphetamine and arrested.  
 
May 3, 2018
  • A Grand Theft Vehicle was reported in the 1100 block of Maynard Drive.  A 1990 Toyota Camry was stolen from the street.  The vehicle is still outstanding.
 
  • A Grand Theft was reported in the 1800 block of Park Rose Avenue.  A catalytic converter was stolen from a Toyota Prius while the vehicle was parked on the street.
 
May 4, 2018
  • While assisting the Probation Department during a search of a residence in the 1800 block of Orange Grove Road, deputies arrested an adult male for felon in possession of ammunition.      
 
May 5, 2018
  • No significant activity.

  • Deputies arrested an adult male for resisting/delaying a peace officer, an adult male for possession of controlled substance for sales, an adult male for under the influence of a controlled substance, and an adult male for loaning a vehicle to a person without an ignition interlock device when driving privileges have been suspended for DUI.
 
May 2, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult male for passion of a controlled substance. 
 
May 3, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult male for being drunk in public, two adult males for possession of narcotic paraphernalia and an adult female for an outstanding warrant 
 
May 4, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult male for possession of a controlled substance and an adult male for felon in possession of a firearm.
 
May 5, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult male for being in the park after curfew.
