Recent Police Department Activity

On Thursday, at approximately 8:34 PM, Ripon Officers responded to the 300 block of Granite Way in regards to an adult female subject committing actions to harm herself. The subject was taken into protective custody and transported to a local medical facility for treatment.

On Friday, at approximately 8:32 AM, Ripon Officers and Animal Control responded to the area of W. Fourth St. and Elm Ave. on a report of a dog attack and a physical fight between the dogs’ owners. Both parties have been identified and staff is still reviewing the incident.

On Friday, at approximately 10:42 AM, Ripon Animal Control responded to the 200 block of W. Main St. on a report of a dog bite. A juvenile had been bitten by a dog at large in the area of W. Main St. and Acacia Ave. The dog and owner have been identified. Animal Control is investigating the incident.

On Sunday, at approximately 7:35 PM, Officer Kyle Prather was dispatched to the 600 block of S. Walnut Ave. in regards to a Municipal Code violation of camping on a residential street. During the course of the contact, the owner of the vheicle’s was identified as Melvin Thayne (62 years of Modesto). Thayne was taken into custody on an outstanding warrant and released at the scene on a citation.

On Monday, at approximately 00:59 AM, Officer Justin Qualle conducted a traffic stop in the area of 1501 N. Jacktone Rd. for a minor traffic violation. During the course of the stop, the driver identified as Mark Carter (51 years of Stockton) was taken into custody for possession of an amount of Methamphetamine and outstanding warrants. The passenger identified as Nereida Barba (32 years of Stockton) was taken into custody for possession of an amount of Methamphetamine, false identification to a police officer, and outstanding warrants. Both subjects were booked into the San Joaquin County Jail.
