News Release: Blood Drive Friday, May 11th

News Release

The Gibson County Sheriff’s Office will once again host the Gibson County Law Enforcement Memorial Blood Drive on May 11, 2018. This is the 13th year that we have sponsored this event, and the second year that we have partnered with the Indiana Fallen Officer Blood Drives. We do this to honor those police officers who have given their lives while serving and protecting our citizens in Gibson County and Indiana. We also pay tribute to those police officers who continue to serve.

There have been 48 police officers killed in the line of duty so far this year in the United States. Two of those officers were in Indiana, including one last Friday in Terre Haute.
Gibson County has five officers on the National Law Enforcement Memorial Wall in Washington, DC. We sponsor this blood drive to coincide with National Police Week which is May 13 – May 19. National Peace Officers Memorial Day is May 15, 2018.

To make an appointment to donate blood, visit the Red Cross website www.redcrossblood.org or call the Gibson County Sheriff’s Office at 812-385-3496 ext. 1420. Walk-ins are always welcome.

The drive will be at the Gibson County Community Corrections Conference Room, and in the Red Cross bus on the parking lot on Friday, May 11 from 1:00 PM until 6:00 PM. We will be serving free “Walking Tacos” and drinks while they last, and those who attempt to donate blood will be entered in a drawing for a $100 gas card.

The Red Cross also announced that all donors who come to donate at the blood drive will automatically be entered in a sweepstakes to win one of three $1,000 gift cards to The Home Depot®*, courtesy of Suburban Propane.
