Deputies arrest a 13 year old male for Assault with a Deadly Weapon after he attacked a group home counselor 
DATE/TIME: May 4, 2018, at approximately 3:10 p.m.
INCIDENT: PC 245(a)(1) - Assault with a Deadly Weapon
LOCATION: 12300 Block of Pine Ridge Avenue, Apple Valley, CA
SUSPECT: 13 year old Juvenile, Resident of Apple Valley
VICTIM: 26 year old male, Resident of Apple Valley
SUMMARY: On May 4, 2018, at approximately 1:30 p.m., Deputy T. Verral of the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department, Apple Valley Station, responded to assist a social worker with the San Diego Child Welfare Services with contact of a 13 year old male juvenile. The social worker reported the juvenile had been placed in a group home in Apple Valley and fled when the social worker attempted to contact him for a follow up appointment. Verral located the juvenile a short distance away and brought the juvenile to the social worker. While the social worker spoke with the juvenile, the juvenile spit on the social worker. At the request of the social worker, Verral completed a battery report and took the juvenile back to the group home.
Once Deputy Verral completed the report, he left the group home. Several minutes later, dispatch received a call for service at the group home and requested Verral return. A counselor at the group home stated he was attacked by the juvenile with a fork after Verral left. Verral spoke with the juvenile and later arrested the juvenile for California Penal Code 245(a)(1) - Assault with a Deadly Weapon. The juvenile was booked at the High Desert Juvenile Detention Center for the above listed crime. The injuries to the group home counselor were non-life threatening.
