Deputies arrest four suspects for attempted murder and conspiracy

DATE/TIME: May 1, 2018 / 8:28 p.m.

INCIDENT: Attempted Murder, Conspiracy to Commit a Crime

LOCATION: 13600 block of Michael Street, Victorville

SUSPECT(S): Immanuel Salazar, 24-year old Apple Valley resident
Jose Martinez, 28-year old Victorville resident
Alexis Salgado, 18-year old Victorville resident
Gilbert Santana, 22-year old Victorville resident

VICTIM: Confidential, 51-year old Hispanic male


SUMMARY: On May 1, 2018, Sheriff’s dispatch received a call of a man that had been shot at a residence in the 13600 block of Michael Street.

Upon arrival, deputies from the Victorville Police Department found the victim, a 51-year old male, had been shot in the lower torso. The victim heard a knock at the front door and was shot after opening the door. According to the victim and a witness at the house, the shooter was a Hispanic male accompanied by at least one other Hispanic male. The suspects were gone when deputies arrived at the scene. The victim was transported to a trauma center for treatment.

Through investigation by the Victorville Police Department’s, Gang Enforcement Team, it was discovered the victim had been shot by Immanuel Salazar over the sale of illegal narcotics. Salazar had been accompanied by Alexis Salgado and Gilbert Santana to the Michael Street location that night. Salazar had been ordered to carry out the crime by Jose Martinez, who was incarcerated at the time for another crime. All four suspects are documented members of a local gang.

On May 2, 2018, deputies with the Gang Enforcement Team arrested Salazar, Salgado, and Santana at the Victorville Courthouse, where they were attending a hearing for Martinez. Salazar was booked for attempted murder. Martinez, Salgado, and Santana were booked for conspiracy to commit a crime. All four suspects are being held at High Desert Detention Center.
