***Telephone Scam***

The Lake County Sheriff’s Office has become aware of a telephone scam where you may receive a call on your home or cellular telephone from a local number. The caller identifies themselves as a “Lake County Sheriff’s Deputy” and advises that you have missed jury duty. The caller indicates there is a warrant for your arrest that can be removed from the system if you immediately pay over the telephone.
The Lake County Sheriff’s Office would like to remind everyone that you should not give out personal or account information to anyone who calls you without being able to verify the caller’s identity.
