INCIDENT: Male Adult Arrested for Unlawful Sexual Acts with a Minor
LOCATION: Big Bear City
SUSPECT: Joseph Smith, 20 years old, resident of Big Bear City
VICTIM: 16-year-old female
SUMMARY:
On April 26, 2018, Detectives from the Big Bear Sheriff’s Station arrested Joseph Smith for unlawful sexual acts against a female juvenile beginning when she was 15 years old. During the course of the investigation, it was determined that Smith and the victim were in a relationship and that Smith was aware of the victim’s age. Despite knowing that the victim was a minor child, Smith had sexual intercourse with the victim and orally copulated the victim on multiple occasions.
Smith was taken into custody without incident and booked in the Big Bear Jail on felony charges of unlawful sex with a minor and oral copulation with a minor. Smith remains in custody in lieu of $50,000 bail. Court procedures are pending in this matter in San Bernardino County Superior Court.
