Sunnyvale, CA. - On 04/27/2018 at 3:30 p.m., Sunnyvale Department of Public Safety patrol and fire personnel responded to 1165 W. El Camino Real on the report of a collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.  The female pedestrian, 84-year-old, Peiqiu Zhangon was walking with her husband eastbound on the north sidewalk of westbound El Camino Real. A 64-year-old male driver was exiting a parking lot when he struck Zhangon. Zhangon was transported to a local trauma center. She has since died from her injuries.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating in the investigation.

The cause of the collision is unknown. The collision is being investigated by the Sunnyvale DPS Major Accident Investigation Team (MAIT). Anyone who has information or witnessed the collision is asked to contact MAIT Investigator PSO Jason Pistor (408) 730-7109.
