Worker dies in Sonoma Vineyard accident.

A worker in a Sonoma County vineyard died today while fixing a tractor. The Sheriff’s Office received a call today shortly before 8:00 AM at the Scribe Winery, located in the 2300 block of Napa Rd in Sonoma on a call of a deceased worker. Deputies responded and found that vineyard wire became entangled in a tractor’s tilling tines. As a worker tried to free the wire from the tines the tiller attachment dropped on the worker and crushed him. Another worker arrived and found the man deceased, trapped under the tiller and notified authorities.

This is being investigated as an industrial accident and is being referred to the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health “Cal OSHA” who will examine the tractor, equipment and will determine exactly what happened.

The man’s name is not being released at this time as his family has not been contacted.
