Traffic stop leads to arrest of Princeton man on drug charges.

On April 30, 2018, at4:51 p.m. Deputy U.B. Smith initiated a traffic stop on a Blue 1986 Dodge Passenger car after observing a passenger in the vehicle not wearing their seatbelt. Upon approaching the vehicle Deputy Smith identified the driver as 40 year old Richard Simpson of Princeton. Deputy Smith began a roadside investigation where officers located illegal drugs in Mr. Simpson’s vehicle. At the conclusion of his investigation Deputy Smith transported Mr. Simpson to the Gibson County Jail. Upon arriving at the Gibson County Jail Mr. Simpson was charged with Possession of a Synthetic drug, Unlawful Possession of Syringes, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Possession of Methamphetamines. He remains in custody on a $750 bond.

Assisting Deputy Smith in his investigation was Princeton Officers Jason Swan and Lincoln Edwards.

All Criminal defendants are to be presumed innocent until, and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
