Incident: Eleven-Year-Old Arrested for Making Terroristic Threat
Location: Samoset Middle School, 51 School St., Lake Ronkonkoma
Date/Time: Friday, April 27, 2018 between 7:30 a.m. and 8 a.m.
Suffolk County Police arrested an 11-year-old boy who made a terroristic threat while on the bus heading to his Lake Ronkonkoma school this morning.
Two students reported to officials from Samoset Middle School, located at 51 School St., that while on the bus ride to school this morning, an 11-year-old student stated that he had a bomb and a gun in his backpack and that he was going to do a school shooting.
School officials contacted Fourth Precinct police after the 11-year-old boy admitted he made the threatening statement. The student’s backpack and locker were searched and no threats were found.
Fourth Squad detectives charged the 11-year-old student, of Ronkonkoma, with Making a Terroristic Threat. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Family Court in Central Islip at a future date.
A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
