Major Crimes Task Force arrests gang member with two stolen firearms

  • 25850 (c)(2) PC Possession of loaded stolen firearm
  • 25850(c)(3) PC- Gang member in possession of firearm

Suspect:
  • Jesus Torres, Juan, an 18 Year Old Pomona Resident

Narrative:

On Thursday, April 26th, 2018, around 5:00 PM, members of the Pomona Police Department's Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF) and the San Gabriel Valley Crime Impact Task Force were partnered up and working a gang suppression detail within the City of Pomona. Officers conducted a vehicle stop in the 700 block of W. 9th St., in the City of Pomona.

Officers made contact with Suspect Jesus Torres in the south alley of the 700 block of W. 9th St.. While Officers were talking to Suspect Jesus Torres they were able to see a gun in plain view next to his feet on the floorboard of the vehicle. Officers removed the suspect from the vehicle and took him into custody without incident. A loaded stolen firearm was recovered from the floorboard of the vehicle.  The suspect was found to be on active probation with search conditions.

Officers responded to the suspect’s residence and conducted a probation compliance check. A second stolen firearm was found in his bedroom. Suspect Jesus Torres is a known Pomona gang member. The suspect was ultimately booked at the Pomona city jail for the above listed charges.
