Identity Thieves get I.D.'d!!

On 4/26/18, the Simi Valley Police Departments Detective Unit concluded a month long investigation into mail theft and identity theft. In the beginning days of April, several Simi Valley residents had mail stolen from their mailboxes. Shortly thereafter, several of the victim’s stolen checks and personal information was used to fraudulently obtain cash and goods. Through a diligent investigation, Brett Andrew Temple (33 yrs) of Glendale California was identified as the primary suspect. Additionally, Temple’s live in girlfriend, Lindsay Fisher (27 yrs) was also identified as possibly being involved.

On 4/26/18, the Simi Valley Detective Bureau conducted a search warrant at the home of Temple and Fisher . During the search warrant, numerous items of stolen mail and evidence associated with identity theft were recovered, including stolen mail from Simi Valley residents. Ms. Fisher was taken into custody at the time of the search warrant for an outstanding counterfeiting warrant and for suspicion of identity theft. Mr. Temple was not at the residence at the time of the search warrant and is being sought for questioning.

The Simi Valley Police Department wants to remind their residents that it is always best to deposit mail at the post office rather then leaving it as outgoing mail in their mailbox. Identity thieves prey on unsuspecting citizens utilizing unlocked mailboxes to obtain checks and personal information which is later used to commit identity theft crimes. Should you see anyone other than your neighbor or postal employee hanging around your area mailboxes, we encourage you to contact the Simi Valley Police Department and report the suspicious activity.
