17-year-old Marcus Griffin charged with two counts of attempted murder in Saturday's Hilton Head island shooting.
Following Saturday's Mackerel Drive, Hilton Head Island shooting in which two women were wounded, Sheriff's Office investigators interviewed numerous witnesses and developed information on the subject responsible. Yesterday, investigators presented the facts of the case to a Beaufort County magistrate and obtained warrants for the arrest of 17-year-old Marcus Griffin of Hilton Head Island for two counts of Attempted Murder and one count of Possession of a Weapon in the Commission of a Violent Crime.
This afternoon, Marcus Griffin turned himself in to Sheriff's Office deputies in Bluffton. Griffin was arrested and served with the three warrants. Deputies transported Griffin to the Beaufort County Detention Center, where he was incarcerated without incident. Griffin has yet to receive a bond hearing for the three charges.
The two women wounded by Marcus Griffin's gunfire have since been released from the hospital. The incident remains under investigation.
