SUMMARY:
On Sunday, April 22, 2018 at approximately 12:30 p.m. both 40King3 and Air Rescue 307 were dispatched to assist CHP and S.B. County Fire with the search for an off-road traffic collision. Initially, the reporting party stated the vehicle rolled over, and the driver was injured. The location of the accident was in the desert area north of Johnson Dry Lakebed, but the exact location was unknown. While on route to the call, a concerned citizen came across the traffic collision and was able to provide a GPS location of the incident location.
Once on scene, 40King3 located the victim. The crew of 40king3 performed an off-site landing and contacted the victim and learned that there were two victims of a roll-over off-road traffic accident. The unrestrained driver was found to have been ejected and had sustained severe injuries. The passenger, who was also unrestrained in the vehicle, was not ejected, but sustained moderate injuries. Air Medic Salcedo, immediately contacted the driver and provided medical aid, while Cpl. Scalise tended to the passenger.
Due to the injuries and the remote location, both subjects were transported to Loma Linda Medical center for treatment by AR307.
