*2nd Update*#LASD Homicide Detectives Resp. to Inv. the Shooting Death of a Woman, 12400blk Grandee Ave., Compton

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau investigators are continuing their investigation into the shooting death of a female Hispanic adult, and the injury of a female Hispanic child that occurred on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at approximately 1:42 AM, on the 12400 block of S. Grandee Avenue in the unincorporated area of Compton.

Detectives conducted a preliminary examination of the evidence at the scene, and have also interviewed the adult female’s live-in boyfriend and the father of the involved children.

The investigation has revealed that the male and female adults were engaged in a verbal argument.  During the argument, the male retrieved a firearm and fired several rounds at the female adult victim.  She was struck in the upper torso, which resulted in her death.  The female juvenile victim was accidentally struck by gunfire and remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

The adult male, identified as Juan Rodriguez, a 29-year-old from Compton, was arrested for murder, and assault with a deadly weapon.  He is being held without bail.
 
The couple had been in a dating relationship for approximately 9 years.

The investigation is ongoing and there are no further details.

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau Detectives are investigating the shooting death of a female Hispanic adult, and the injury of a female Hispanic juvenile.  The incident occurred on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at approximately 1:42 AM on the 12400 block of S Grandee Avenue in the unincorporated area of Compton.

Detectives have learned that deputies assigned to Century station responded to the location regarding a gunshot victim call.  Upon the deputies arrival, they located a female Hispanic adult that sustained at least one gunshot wound to the upper torso.  She was pronounced dead at the scene.  Also located were two of the victim’s small children, an approximate 1-year-old male Hispanic, and an approximate 3-year-old female Hispanic.  Both of the children found at the location were unharmed.

Shortly thereafter, deputies learned that the father of the children transported their additional child, an 8-year-old female Hispanic to a local hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound to the upper torso.  The 8-year-old is currently listed in critical condition.

The father is being interviewed by Homicide Bureau Detectives as a witness at this time. 

The incident does not appear to be gang-related. There is no suspect information, and no known motives.

The investigation is ongoing.

NARRATIVE:
Los Angeles County Sheriff's Homicide detectives are responding to investigate the shooting death of a woman and wounding of a juvenile.  The incident was reported on Saturday April 21, 2018 at 2:18 am on the 2400 block of Grandee Avenue in the city of Compton.  

The female adult victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

A female juvenile was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injury.                                        

There is no additional information available at this time.
