On the evening of February 14th the police department investigated two malicious false alarm calls made to the Millstadt Fire Department. One reported a structure fire on Saxtown Road, the other a brush fire on Concordia Church Road. An investigation ensued, which included a subpoena for phone records. It was also later learned the same subject had stolen the Alpine Trails subdivision sign, on the same evening of the false alarms. On March 28th the St. Clair County State’s Attorney’s Office charged the defendant, Klayton M. Skaer age 20 of Millstadt, with Theft; a Class A Misdemeanor. Bond was set at $1,500. On April 11th the state’s attorney’s office charged Skaer with two counts of Disorderly Conduct (for the false alarm calls); a Class 4 Felony. He was released on a $30,000 recognizance bond.
