INCIDENT: Possession of a Firearm on School Grounds

LOCATION: 13900 block of Hook Blvd.

SUSPECT: Gary Foxworth, 55-year old Victorville resident


SUMMARY: On April 19, 2018, at approximately 12:59 p.m., Gary Foxworth went to Brentwood Elementary School and made contact with staff members, who reported he made incoherent statements and was acting erratic. One of the staff members believed they saw what may have been a gun in Foxworth’s bag.

Foxworth did not make any threats or brandish a weapon. When he left the school, staff members contacted law enforcement and placed three elementary schools on lockdown. Victor Elementary School District (VESD) contacted the Victor Valley Unified High School District (VVUSD) to make them aware of the incident.

Deputies with the Victorville Police Department responded to Brentwood Elementary School, as well as other nearby schools, and began conducting an area check for Foxworth. Shortly after 2:00 p.m. security personnel from VVUSD reported Foxworth’s vehicle was at the VVUSD’s district office. Deputies located him at that location and detained him without incident.

When detained, Foxworth had a camera case hanging on his shoulder which contained a loaded firearm. He was arrested for possession of a firearm on school grounds and will be booked at High Desert Detention Center.
