On April 18, 2018 deputies with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area of Chase High Road and Harris Henrietta Road reference to shots fired. After further investigation, it was determined to have stemmed from a larceny that had occurred on Dogwood Lane in the Chase Community on Monday. A neighbor of the larceny victim observed a black mustang pull into the driveway of the larceny victim on Wednesday April 18, 2018 and went over to check on her neighbor. After the neighbor pulled up the Ford Mustang took off with a white female driving and a white male in the passenger seat. The neighbor followed the vehicle and was able to get a tag number. After a few minutes of the neighbor following the Mustang, the white male began shooting a firearm at the neighbor. The neighbor then stopped following the Mustang. Cpl. Tyler Greene of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office stopped at Chase Convenience Store and was able to pull still pictures of the male suspect.

A short time later, the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office Interdiction Team was looking for the suspect vehicle and saw the vehicle on Highway 221 A near the state line. The interdiction team started following the vehicle and before they could do any enforcement action the vehicle had made it into South Carolina. The interdiction team followed the vehicle into South Carolina and was able to have a Cherokee County Sheriff’s Deputy stop the vehicle. A female identified as Christina Green was in the vehicle and was placed under arrest by Cherokee County for not having a driver’s license and other charges. Green admitted to deputies that she had picked up James Wilson at a trailer park in Ellenboro and took him to the home in the Chase Community. Green also advised where to find Wilson and this information was relayed to road deputies of the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies responded to an address on Sunny Brooke Lane in Ellenboro and found Wilson in the trailer. Wilson was arrested on outstanding warrants and taken to the Rutherford County Detention Center.

Detectives with the Rutherford County Sheriff’s Office conducted a search warrant on the residence on Sunny Brooke Lane and found property that belonged to the larceny victim on Dogwood Lane in the Chase Community.

Wilson was additionally charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon with Intent to Kill, Discharging a Firearm from Occupied Property and Possession of Stolen Goods. Wilson was placed in the Rutherford County Detention Center under a $23,500 secured bond and had a first appearance in Rutherford County District Court.

On 4-19-18, Wilson made his first appearance before a District Court judge. Because of Wilson’s actions in court, he was held in contempt and sentenced to 60 days. Wilson’s total bond was increased to $48,500.00.
