DUARTE WEEKLY CRIME BLOTTER April 8 - April 14, 2018.

The following is a synopsis of crimes reported for the week of April 08 – April 14, 2018
 
April 08, 2018

  • A Robbery was reported at 1050 Huntington Drive (Target).  An adult male suspect stole a back pack and was detained by a loss prevention officer outside the store.  When the suspect was brought back into the loss prevention office, he physically took the back pack from the loss prevention officer, pushed her to the ground and ran off with the back pack.  The loss prevention officer was not injured. 
 
April 09, 2018
  • A Petty Theft was reported in the 1600 block of Cotter Avenue.  A spare key to a Honda Accord as stolen from the victim’s unlocked Chevy Silverado. 
 
April 10, 2018
  • An Assault with a Deadly Weapon was reported at the corner of Buena Vista Street and Central Avenue.  The victim was driving to school and stopped for the red light.  While waiting to turn northbound Buena Vista, he alleges an adult female who was walking southbound Buena Vista, suddenly reached into her back pack, pulled out a gun and pointed it at him.  The victim immediately made his turn and drove to school where he reported the incident.
  • A residential Burglary was reported in the 2600 block of Calle Martes Circle.  A flat screen T.V. and laptop were stolen.  Entry to the location was made by shattering a back window with a rock.
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 1470 Mountain Avenue (Best Buy).  An adult male in a wheel chair, stole two laptop computers by concealing them underneath himself as he wheeled out of the store.  Loss prevention officers did not detain the suspect, because they were unaware a crime occurred until viewing the security footage.  The suspect was last seen driving away in a black Ford F350 with a black camper shell.
  • A Grand Theft was reported in the 1700 block of Huntington Drive, where an elderly female was the victim of a lottery ticket scam.  The victim was approached by a male and female Hispanic adult in a black van as she waited for the bus.  The suspect’s offered the victim a ride home, and told her they had a winning lottery ticket worth thousands, but they were undocumented citizens and couldn’t cash it.  When the victim offered to cash the ticket, the suspect’s told her they needed collateral in case she ran off with their winning ticket.  The elderly victim retrieved $3,200 in cash and some jewelry as collateral and gave it to the suspects.  The suspect’s then told the victim to go back inside and get her passport, because the store would not cash the ticket without it.  When she returned with her passport, the suspects were gone.

April 14, 2018
  • A Petty Theft was reported at 902 Huntington Drive (Arco Gas Station).  The victim’s prescription medication was stolen from her unlocked vehicle while she was pumping gas.
  • A Grand Theft Vehicle was reported in the 2500 block of Maynard Drive.  A 2001 Ford F350 was stolen from the street.  The vehicle is still outstanding.
  • An Attempt Robbery was reported at 1801 Highland Avenue (Highland Industrial Center).  The victim was sitting in his vehicle waiting for a friend, when a male Hispanic adult wearing a hoodie over his head, approached the vehicle, pointed a gun at the victims head and demanded his money.  The victim told the suspect he didn’t have any money.  When the suspect demanded his money a second time, the victim told the suspect he didn’t have any money, but to go ahead and take his tools.  The suspect ran to a vehicle parked a short distance away and fled the location without obtaining any money or property from the victim.

  • Deputies arrested an adult male for spousal assault.
 
April 09, 2018
  • Deputies arrested two adult males for possession of illegal narcotics and an adult male for spousal assault. 
 
April 10, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult male for possession of illegal narcotics.
 
April 11, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult male on an outstanding traffic warrant.
 
April 12, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult female for petty theft, an adult male for possession of illegal narcotics and an adult male for felon in possession of a firearm.
 
April 13, 2018
  • Deputies arrested an adult male for spousal assault, and adult female for possession of illegal narcotics and an adult male for petty theft (Shoplifting) and possession of narcotic paraphernalia. 
 
April 14, 2018
  • No significant activity.
