Man Arrested After Weapons, Ammunition Seized from Home

Suffolk County Police today arrested a Lindenhurst man on multiple weapons charges after more than a dozen guns, high-capacity magazines and ballistic equipment were found in his home during a search prompted by a threatening message left at a school.

Suffolk County Police were notified  by officials from the Clarkstown (New York) Police Department to check the welfare of Lindenhurst resident Robert Csak. Clarktown officers were concerned about Csak after he left a threatening message, directed at an employee, on the answering machine of the Summit School in Upper Nyack at approximately 5:40 a.m. on April 14. Csak, who attended the school in 2002, was identified as the caller through caller ID and school records.

When officers arrived at Csak’s home, located at 495A 38th St., Csak was not home and his landlord opened the apartment door. As officers entered to search for Csak, they observed a tactical shotgun, cross bow, night vision goggles, high-capacity magazines and an assault weapon. The location was secured and a search warrant was obtained. During the subsequent search, officers recovered 19 firearms, a silencer, more than 200 high-capacity magazines, a Tommy gun, night vision goggles, bulletproof vests, gas masks, knives, asps and a bump stock (used to create an automatic weapon out of a semi-automatic weapon).

Csak, 32, was located in his vehicle by Third Precinct Gang Team Officers Daniel Cardineau, Nicholas Marazzito and Alexander Otero at approximately 9 p.m. on April 14 on Millard Avenue at Route 109 in West Babylon. Csak was charged with nine counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree (assault weapon), six counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree (large-capacity ammunition feeding device), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree (silencer) and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree (asp).

Csak is scheduled to be arraigned on April 16 at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
