Narrative:

On 03/22/2018, Detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s West County Street Narcotics Team were alerted to the presence of an illegal commercial marijuana cultivation located in the industrial complex of the 800 block of Calle Plano in the City of Camarillo. This occurred as a result of a faulty fire alarm in the building which required the response of the Ventura County Fire Department and deputies from the Camarillo Police Department. A precautionary inspection of the building was conducted which revealed the illegal marijuana grow activity inside the interior of the building. Once fire department personnel confirmed there was no fire in the building, deputies secured the building and requested the assistance of narcotic detectives.

Detectives from the West County Street Team responded and took control of the investigation. A search warrant was secured and executed on the location. Detectives dismantled the sophisticated cultivation operation and seized just under 700 marijuana plants in various stages of growth. Evidence was obtained which showed the building was in the process of being converted to expand the illegal marijuana operation. Because of the alterations made to the building’s interior and electrical panels and system, the building was deemed to be unsafe. Detectives worked with County Fire Personnel and Code Enforcement Officials to red tag the building until such time that the building is repaired and brought back to compliance standards.

Detectives have identified suspects responsible for the illegal marijuana cultivation and the investigation is on-going.

The West County Street Narcotics Team is comprised of narcotic detectives from the Ventura County Sheriff’s Office, the Port Hueneme Police Department and the Oxnard Police Department.
