On Sunday, April 08, 2018, at 10:14 PM, Corcoran officers were dispatched Adventist Medical Center in Hanford regarding a shooting victim that was self transported to the hospital. The shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Hall Avenue and was reported to have been accidental. The shooter, who was later identified as Carlos Parra Garcia, was contacted at Adventist Medical Center and detained. After speaking to Carlos Parra Garcia, officers confirmed the incident occurred in Corcoran. Garcia stated he accidentally shot the victim while he was cleaning his firearm. Officers later drove to the residence where the shooting occurred and collected evidence, which included a handgun. Carlos Parra Garcia was arrested for negligent discharge of a firearm causing serious injury and booked into Kings County Jail. Carlos Parra Garcia is being held on $25,000.00 bail
